A natural yellow-orange pigment extracted from turmeric root, widely used to colour everything from processed cheeses and marmalades to meat products and fish. It's one of the most trusted food dyes available — plant-derived, not synthetic. Beyond colouring, curcumin has well-documented anti-inflammatory properties studied extensively in nutrition research. At the amounts used in food, it poses no known health risks. EFSA considers it safe.
