A modified starch used as a thickener and stabiliser, made by treating regular starch with phosphate. Common in dairy products, baby foods, and cereal-based foods for young children. It improves texture and prevents separation. Considered safe by EFSA, with no established acceptable daily intake needed at typical food levels.
