A synthetic green dye used to colour canned vegetables, jams, processed fish products, and similar foods. It helps maintain or enhance green colour that might fade during processing or storage. Not among the most studied additives, but it belongs to the group of artificial azo dyes, some of which have raised mild concerns over hypersensitivity reactions in sensitive individuals. Permitted in the EU in a limited number of food categories, reflecting a cautious regulatory approach.
