A modified starch used as a thickener and stabiliser. It helps food maintain a smooth, consistent texture and prevents separation, especially in low-fat dairy and meat products. Derived from natural starch (usually corn, potato, or tapioca) through chemical modification. Generally considered safe by EFSA and FDA. As a modified starch, it passes largely undigested, so it has minimal caloric impact. Sensitive individuals may experience mild digestive discomfort in larger amounts.

Conditions of Use

This additive is authorised to be used in the following 2 food categories:

1.6.2Unflavoured live fermented cream products and substitute products, both with a fat content of less than 20 %

8.2Meat preparations as defined by Regulation (EC) No 853/2004
