A natural yellow-orange pigment found in marigold flowers, egg yolks, and leafy greens. Used as a colouring agent in processed foods like cheese, jams, and fish products to give a warm yellow hue. Well-studied and generally considered safe. Beyond colouring, lutein is actually a beneficial nutrient linked to eye health and protection against macular degeneration. No known safety concerns at typical food use levels.
