A synthetic form of vitamin E, used as an antioxidant to prevent fats and oils from going rancid. Found in edible oils, margarines, and notably in baby foods and infant formulas. It closely mirrors a naturally occurring form of vitamin E found in plant foods like nuts and seeds. Considered safe by EFSA and widely accepted in food production.
