A synthetic form of vitamin E, used as an antioxidant to prevent fats and oils from going rancid. Found in edible oils, margarines, and notably in baby foods and infant formulas. It closely mirrors a naturally occurring form of vitamin E found in plant foods like nuts and seeds. Considered safe by EFSA and widely accepted in food production.

Conditions of Use

This additive is authorised to be used in the following 6 food categories:

2.1fats and oils essentially free from water (excluding anhydrous milk fat)
Quantum satis (no max)
except virgin oils and olive oils
13.1.1infant formulae as defined by Regulation (EU) No 609/2013
Maximum Level = 10 mg/kg
