A tin-based compound used as an antioxidant and colour stabiliser, primarily in canned and bottled fruits and vegetables. It prevents discolouration and oxidation during storage. Authorised in very limited food categories with strict usage limits. Tin compounds can be toxic in higher doses, but regulated levels in food are considered safe by EFSA. Rarely encountered in everyday products.
