A mineral-based anti-caking agent used to keep powdered and granulated foods free-flowing. Found mainly in salt and some powdered food products. It prevents clumping by absorbing moisture. Authorised in the EU but permitted in very few food categories. The aluminium content raises some long-term concern — EFSA has flagged aluminium compounds as worth monitoring, though at typical dietary levels from this additive the risk is considered low.
