A naturally occurring mineral used as an anti-caking agent, keeping powdered and granulated foods free-flowing. Found mainly in table salt and some powdered food products. Authorised in very few food categories, so exposure is minimal. Generally considered safe at permitted levels by EFSA. Aluminium compounds as a class raise occasional questions about cumulative aluminium intake, but the amounts from this specific use are negligible compared to aluminium naturally present in food and drinking water.
