A natural wax produced by honeybees, used as a glazing agent and coating. It gives confectionery, chocolates, fruits, and nuts that polished, shiny appearance while also protecting them from moisture and extending shelf life. You'll find it on chocolate-coated sweets, glazed nuts, and some bakery items. One of the most natural additives around — no synthetic chemistry involved. Considered very safe by EFSA and FDA with no known health concerns at the amounts used in food. Suitable for most diets, though strict vegans typically avoid it.
