A propellant gas used in aerosol food sprays — the same hydrocarbon found in cigarette lighters. At food-grade purity, it passes through without being absorbed by the body. Authorised by EFSA for use in cooking sprays, where it helps deliver a fine mist of oil onto pans. Considered safe at the tiny residual amounts that might remain on food.
