Glucosylated steviol glycosides

Characteristics

Additive NameGlucosylated steviol glycosides
E No.E960d
TypeIndividual Substance
In plain language

A plant-derived sweetener made by modifying steviol glycosides — the natural sweet compounds from the stevia plant — through enzymatic glucosylation. This process improves solubility and reduces the bitter aftertaste that plain stevia sometimes has. Found in flavoured drinks, fruit nectars, fermented dairy products, and meal replacements. Regulated and approved by EFSA, it provides sweetness without calories or blood sugar spikes, making it useful for weight control and diabetic-friendly products. Considered safe at authorised levels. A reasonable alternative to sugar when used in moderation.
