Ingredients

Aperitif COCCHI Rosa Americano Aperitivo 16.5%, 750 ml. Cocchi Americano Aperitif is an aperitif wine that debuted in 1891 in the Asti region of Italy. Aromatized wine (known as chinati in Italy, quinquinas in France) is fortified and then flavored with cinchona bark (E900), gentian root (E900), along with citrus peel, spices, and other botanical flavorings. Cinchona bark is the primary source of quinine (E1010) (Quinine was used to treat malaria) and, along with gentian root, gives Cocchi Americano its bitter flavor. The name Americano originated both from the bitter alcohol ('amaricato') and from the American habit of drinking vermouth with ice and soda. Throughout its history, Cocchi has produced several variants of Aperitivo Americano. The latest is Cocchi Rosa, made from red Piedmont (Piemont) wines and additionally flavored with rose petals. Cocchi Americano is crisp and citrusy, with a subtle bitter taste, used in cocktails, but also suitable as a straightforward aperitif poured over ice and garnished with a slice of pink grapefruit and a splash of soda water. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
