“Le Lieu Cher” Calvados PAYS D'AUGE 5 ANS AOC is a full-bodied, elegant flavored beverage. Aged for 5 years in French oak barrels at Serge Desfrieches apple farm in Normandy. Recommended to be served at room temperature with black chocolate. Calvados (French: Calvados, named after the Calvados department in France) is an alcoholic beverage made from the distillation of cider (usually 40–45% alcohol by volume). It is an apple brandy originating from the Lower Normandy region of France. Made from approximately 50 different apple varieties: these are harvested in early autumn, then matured, their juices are pressed to make cider (approximately 5% strength). Later, the ciders are distilled and aged in oak barrels for at least 2 years. The longer the drink is aged, the smoother its flavor becomes. It bears the AOP (Appellation d'Origine Protégée / Protected Designation of Origin) label, granted to products whose quality and characteristics are intrinsically linked to their place of origin and geographical environment. All stages of the product’s production must take place in a specific designated area.
